Apple Crisp

This recipe has all the flavors of apple pie, but requires half the work. I love the combination of apples and cinnamon–the warmth of the sweet cinnamon and the tartness of ripe golden delicious apples–nothing compares! This apple crisp is a definite crowd pleaser, so go ahead and impress the people you love!

Ingredients

Apple Filling

3-4 Golden Delicious Apples – peeled, cored and sliced
1 lemon juiced
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup light brown sugar
2 tablespoons flour
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Crisp Topping

1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup butter – chilled and cubed
1/4 cup butter – melted

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 375F.
  2. Toss apple slices in lemon juice. Then incorporate sugars, flour and cinnamon.
  3. Pour apples into a greased pie or casserole dish.
  4. In a mixing bowl, stir together all the ingredients needed for the crisp topping, cutting the butter in gradually. Once mixture has become crumbly, sprinkle over sugared apples, then drizzle melted butter evenly atop prepared apple crisp!
  5. Bake 40-45 minutes or until top is golden brown. Enjoy!
