Strawberry Cheese Danish

I made these a few weeks ago while entertaining a guest!  I’d been experimenting with a few different techniques for creating a quick cheese danish–some made fresh and some made with pre-made biscuits or crescent rolls–and this recipe happens to be the winner! All contenders were delicious of course; however, this recipe meets the mark in more ways than one. For starters, it’s quick and easy! Using pre-made biscuits eliminates the mess involved with making a pastry dough. Also, since these danishes are made in a muffin pan, serving is simple. Like most of my recipes, there’s a short list of ingredients and only a few steps necessary…so get to work!

1 tube refrigerated biscuits
1/4 cups plus 2 tablespoons sugar
4 oz cream cheese – softened
1/4 cup strawberries – hulled, sliced and macerated
1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup confectioner’s sugar
1 teaspoon milk

  1. Heat oven to 350F. Spray a muffin pan with cooking spray.
  2. Place 2 tablespoons sugar in a small bowl and coat biscuits. Place biscuits in muffin-well, pressing along sides and bottom.
  3. Mix 1/4 cup sugar, cream cheese, strawberries and lemon juice until mixture is fluffy. Drop a tablespoon of mixture into each biscuit cup, top with a few strawberry slices.
  4. Bake 15-20 minutes. Meanwhile, combine confectioner’s sugar and milk. Drizzle atop cooled danish. Enjoy!

*This recipes yields 6 muffins.

  1. These look so tasty. Have all the ingredients and an hour to spare. Have to give them a try. 🙂
